Designed a mobile media application for UF's Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience, translating complex marine biology research into an accessible, interactive mobile experience for public audiences.
Challenge
Marine research is visually compelling but narratively complex. The lab needed a way to communicate their work to the public in a format that was engaging on mobile, without oversimplifying the science.
Solution
Conducted stakeholder interviews with researchers, designed the information architecture and visual design for a mobile app, and built a digital marketing strategy to drive downloads and engagement. The project bridged science communication and UX design.
Impact
- •Designed the lab's first-ever public-facing mobile experience, bridging cutting-edge science and accessible storytelling
- •Owned the full design process: stakeholder research, information architecture, visual design, and high-fidelity prototypes
- •Paired the product with a digital marketing strategy to drive real-world downloads and audience engagement
Results
- •App increased public engagement with laboratory research
- •Project completed as senior capstone at University of Florida
